11-08 weekly update

idk, not many updates from me this week. just a lot of work and the continued grind of school and all my other projects and club work on the side. i’m figuring out buying a workstation/old refurbished optiplex PC from amazon to start a homelab cluster in my dorm, should be a fun side project. i can probably bring up my gaming pc at home and use that for “compute” (whatever “compute” an rtx 3080 can provide these days). mainly looking to use it for media storage (obtained through totally legal means, of course!).

i have also switched to bspwm, which is a pleasant return to X11 (where everything works) and a twm (i have been using GNOME for the past year).

i am also purchasing some electronics off of aliexpress/amazon/who the fuck knows where else to start my electronics side projects! i want to play around with some cool accessories and gadgets before moving on to drones and more robot stuff. i also want to build a snowball cannon for once the hyperborean ithaca winters roll around.

on the research side of things, CUAI has been going well and i’ve been meeting some really awesome people that i can learn from. however, i am still without a lab :(. i honestly have not put that much time into lab stuff and i need to figure that out soon.

at this point i think i would benefit from a re-organized Obsidian PKM since i always have so much to juggle. i will do this on tuesday after my linear algebra prelim.
